The recess in a nineteen-twenties kitchen was sized for the stove of its day. The result looks deliberate and works well, and it leaves the appliance with very little air on either flank.

Getting it out without a mark
Fir floors, original tile and plaster returns take a scar that no repair justifies, so the machine comes out over boards, the supply behind it is dealt with before anything is drawn forward, and it goes back onto the same footprint it left. Where a floor was laid after the range was installed, the height under it has changed and it may not slide back the way it came out; that is worth discovering when the appointment is booked rather than halfway through it.
Nothing about the alcove changes the price of the part. It changes how long the visit takes, which is why the layout is worth two sentences when you call.
